If you saw my Instagram stories yesterday, cleaning up our Christmas tree and about the seven thousand pine needles that went along with it was a PROJECT! We got a bit of the cleaning bug and ended up vacuuming underneath the couch, underneath the rug, etc. Seeing how nice the family room looked made me just want to clean and organize the rest of the house, so I figured I would do a post on getting organized in the new year and some tips I’ve been trying out!
#1 BASKETS
Yes, I watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo a few times on Netflix as well as read her book and I must say that her tip for storing things in baskets is no joke! I got a lot of my baskets for our linen closet from Target. These are the baskets we use for Greyson’s laundry, and storing bedsheets, and towels.
I use these baskets in our mudroom and put the dog stuff, hats and gloves, and other winter gear in them! They are super cute and sturdy and I love the look against the white shelf.

#2 PLASTIC FRIDGE AND PANTRY ORGANIZERS
I ordered these and these plastic organizers off of Amazon and put them in our fridge and pantry. I use the can organizer for storing seltzers and beers in the fridge and beans and soups in the pantry. I really like how these bins allow the cans to rest on their side and then you can grab what you need and the next can rolls out for when you’re ready! I use the other bins for keeping Greyson’s food separated in the fridge. In the pantry, I’ll use them to store nuts and open packages of granola bars.
#3 CLOTHING STORAGE
Again with channeling Marie Kondo, I organized all of our clothes in our drawers vertically. It makes getting what we want incredibly simple and it’s really not that hard to refold everything into thirds and store your clothes this way. I especially love doing the baby’s clothes because everything just looks so neat and tidy! 🙂
#4 KEYS

I lose my car keys all the time. (I also lose the TV remotes all the time, but that’s another problem.) My sister-in-law got me this adorable O-ring for my keys for Christmas last year and I use it every day. I can wear it in the grocery store comfortably and it just dangles on my wrist. I’m linking some cute similar ones here, here, and here! A friend got the Tile for a secret Santa gift last year and this is seriously the best thing ever! An app connects to your phone and if you ever lose your keys, or your phone, you can press the tile or the app on your phone and it will ping your keys! Such an awesome idea! These are few other different kinds of tiles: here and here. Another friend gave me a chapstick holder since I’m such a chapstick addict, but I wore it into the ground and had to buy new ones! I love these on Amazon because they have super cute designs and you get a lot in one pack! Here is another plain option.

#5 I did a recent blog post on my FOUR DOLLAR storage bin idea you can read here! The bin is actually under $4! Such a steal.
I love the start of a new year because it’s a time to start fresh and organize! Enjoy!
