I think it’s safe to say that most people celebrated the 4th a little bit differently this year. Even though things are starting to opening up, we are still being cautious in our household. We’re keeping things low-key this year, but I still whipped up some fun 4th treats enjoyed at home!
Chalkola sent me a chalkboard and THIRTY chalk markers to use to design something fun! I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to try my hand at some crafts for the 4th of July. I’ve used chalk boards for my wedding and baby shower, but I thought I would try something a little bit different than free handing cursive letters this time.

I used a smart cutting machine in order to create a stencil for the sign. After I transferred the stencil to the chalkboard, I filled it in with the chalk markers, removed the stencil, and was done! It was much easier to do it this way than erase the board seven thousand times because I didn’t like the way one of my letters came out. Ha! Given that I have used chalk markers and boards in the past, I do have to say that I really enjoyed these chalk markers more than other markers I have used. The chalk paint flowed much easier than other brands I’ve tried. I even did a little test when I first got the board to see how it wiped clean and I didn’t have an issue! You couldn’t even tell that I had done some practice squiggles, whereas with other boards, you could see the slight imprint left behind on the board. I only had to use water to wipe it clean and it came right off.
