We hosted our very first Thanksgiving this year and everything went off without a hitch! I was obsessed with our table decor, so I thought I would share what I used to make the eucalyptus table garland and our “grateful” napkin holders.
If I want to learn how to do something, obviously I turn to the internet to figure it out. I watched this video on making a DIY eucalyptus garland and then bought the necessary supplies to make my own!
I followed the video by making little bunches of four or five pieces of mixed leaves and then tied them together with the paddle wire. Using the paddle wire, I attached the little bunches of eucalyptus to the twine. I did this until I reached the desired length and voila!
Next… the grateful napkin “rings.” I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest, so I tried to make my own and was very happy it didn’t turn into a Pinterest fail.
I bought the little wooden discs on Amazon, painted both sides white, and then used a Cricut to cut the word “grateful” into black vinyl. I put the twine that came with the package through the top and then was all done!
I love the eucalyptus garland for fall because I spruced it up with pumpkins, but you could easily jazz it up for Christmas with some white flowers or some silver accents. Enjoy!
My husband and I built our house last year and moved in in August, five days before Greyson was born. Many of you already know that crazy story! Since then, I have spent the past year furnishing our home with items we love and that fit our style.
We are going for the modern farmhouse, cozy look. Many of the items we have found for our home were items that we searched for for months and months because we didn’t want to buy something unless we were completely in love with it. These are the stores we have had the most luck with in the past year that have beautiful home furnishings – we also got many items from the bigger stores on sale! I always love a good deal.
#1: HomeGoods & TJ Maxx
HomeGoods and TJ Maxx are partner companies, so it should come as no surprise that they carry very similar home decor items. TJ Maxx is more clothing based, but they do have a small home section.
We purchased a lot of our kitchen knick knacks from HomeGoods, mainly Calphalon pots and pans. They are much cheaper and I found some pots that have a built in strainer, so that was a bonus! You do need to shop in store at HomeGoods and TJ Maxx.
If you watched my Instagram stories recently, you saw I am on the hunt for chunky rope baskets. I found one originally at HomeGoods last year and bought it for Greyson’s nursery, but I have yet to see the style I want since. In the meantime, we are just storing all of Greyson’s toys in the cubbies in his playroom. Like I said, I’ll wait months before I purchase something just to make sure it is exactly what we want!
We have purchased almost all of our baskets from HomeGoods, as we did a little Konmari method cleaning this past year as well. We have baskets ranging in size from small to large, styles ranging from wood to metal, and they are all beautiful and inexpensive!
We also picked up a beautiful Kate Spade comforter, bathroom decor, and bath towels from HomeGoods!
I found all of the metal baskets and faux plant from HomeGoods. Check out my laundry room makeover! I love it!
Target is our go to for more than just home furnishings, but they have a wonderful selection of home decor items as well! We got our bed sheets, bedroom curtains and curtain rods, and kitchen stools from Target, as well as some other little toiletries and knick knacks. We got most of these items on sale as I purchased them online and waited for them to have 25% off home furnishings!
Wayfair’s website is so big that you can literally get lost for hours in all of their pages of home decor. We purchased the majority of our furniture, aside from our living room sectional, from Wayfair. We purchased our bedroom furniture, headboard, foyer clock, baby nursery furniture (check out my nursery post here), dining room chairs, and living room chair from Wayfair. Their customer service is awesome and their items are usually always on sale!
#4: Pottery Barn
Pottery Barn is one of my favorite items to window shop. They have beautiful holiday decor and items that just make the home feel cozy. We purchased our throw pillow covers, both seasonal and every day, as well as serving ware for entertaining. All of our dishes and platters came from Pottery Barn as well! They usually have 20% off your order with free shipping, so make sure you wait for a sale! These are my favorite items from Pottery Barn: dishes, platter, flatware
#5: Crate and Barrel
I love Crate and Barrel for drinkware. We purchased all of our drinking glasses and stemware from Crate and Barrel online and on sale! Everything was shipped in beautiful packaging and nothing was damaged!
We are still furnishing our home with items as we see a need, but I love it so much that I don’t mind it! Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?
Check out my post on our farmhouse bathroom decor here and my post on our DIY farmhouse table here! Enjoy!
I graduated from college in 2011 and a lot has changed since then, but not what the average kid needs for their dorm! Every time I walk through Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target, they have the cutest prints and patterns for dorm rooms. Not only is everything adorable, but it can be very overwhelming deciding what you truly need, what would be nice to have, and what you don’t really need at all. Back to school shopping is one of my favorite things to do, even though I love being home with my little guy. I am narrowing down your college dorm shopping list to these TEN dorm room essentials. These dorm room ideas are the only things you NEED.
Most of these items are from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, so remember you can use a 20% off coupon if you sign up for their email list. If you use Rakuten (formerly Ebates) you get $10 back once you sign up and make your first purchase! Rakuten is free to use at places you already shop AND you get cash back! I am linking my referral link here!
#1: Comforter and 2 Sets of Bed Sheets
Having a comforter is a dorm room essential and makes your room feel nice and cozy like home. Also, having a comforter gives you an extra layer in case your room is too cold. You can also take off the comforter if you get too hot, but it’s nice to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it!
Having an extra set of bed sheets allows you to change your bed sheets and not have to do laundry right away. Also, if you’re sick and not feeling well, it’s nice to have a spare set of sheets 😉 Make sure you buy Twin XL in both a comforter and sheets!
#2: Portable Fan
Some dorms are hot, some are cold. Some roommates play with the thermostat all night (that was me!) so it’s nice to have a portable fan in case you get too hot!
#3: Mattress Pad
College dorm beds have a firm side and a soft side. They can still feel like you are sleeping on a brick, so buying a mattress pad not only puts a barrier in between the bed a hundred other people used, but also gives you a bit extra cushion in case you like your bed a little softer like me. They make so many different pads nowadays that make your bed extra cozy!
#4: Shower Flip Flops
No one wants athlete’s foot or toenail fungus. Buy these cheap Old Navy rubber flip flops to wear in the shower and protect your feet, please!
#5: Shower Caddy
Organizing your bathroom stuff in a shower caddy lets you grab your stuff and shower without having to schlep everything to the bathroom.
#6: Backpack style laundry bag
I did laundry about once a week when I was in college, but the laundry room was never on my floor! Having a backpack style laundry bag allowed me to throw all of my dirty (or clean!) clothes on my back and carry my detergent down to the laundry room with me!
Having a good amount of storage in college is vital because you will accumulate stuff. Under bed storage and closet storage is a must! That closet hanging storage is on mega sale right now!
#8: Backpack or Purse
I used a purse when I was in college (this was my FAVORITE), but a backpack is pretty standard!
#9: Two Bath Towels
Kind of like having two pairs of bed sheets, having two bath towels is a college dorm room essential because your towels will get dirty and if you are behind on laundry, it would suck to shower and dry yourself off with a dirty towel!
Some might view this as a luxury, but where else will you keep your leftovers! I loved keeping some groceries and water in my mini-fridge and I still use it to this day. Money went spell!
What are some of the college dorm room essentials you find yourself needing?
I’m very excited to share my most recent discovery with you! Filling up my phone with pictures of Greyson, my puppies, and everything in between leaves me with a lot of wonderful memories. I’m always looking through my phone, scrolling to find a location, date, or person I want the picture of. Luckily, now I can find all of my most important memories in one place!
Photobook Worldwide, also Photobook America, takes all of the memories on your phone or computer and transforms them into beautiful products. They ship all over the world. Check out their Instagram, too! I am sharing 3 products here with you today! I will also be posting the products on my Instagram stories/highlights you can check out here!
The first product I received is the Simple Book. This fun little hardcover book comes in sizes 6×6, 8×8, and 11×11. I got the 6×6 book and ordered on the app. Search “Photobook Worldwide” on the App Store and you will see a little blue “P.” I have to assume it is the same in the Google Play store! Just pick the pictures you want in your Simple Book, upload them to app, and organize them in the arrangement you want. I uploaded pictures (really quickly, too) from my phone, all from Greyson’s first year of life, to create my own little memory book! You can also add text to the back of the book. I chose to write Greyson’s name. This book would make a great grandparent gift or gift for the holidays! You can order as many copies as you want and give them to friends and family!
I have an exclusive code for you to get your own FREE Simple Book with code GREYPBWW. All you have to pay is shipping! So worth it!
The next product I am going to share with you is the Lil’ Photobook. You have a choice of making a square photobook (sizes 4×4 or 4×6) or a landscape photobook (sizes 6×4 or 7×5). I made the 4×4 and I am in LOVE. My husband and I built our house last year, so I wanted to put the entire home building process in a memory book for us to look back on and enjoy.
I used their website to create this Photobook because I had so many pictures to upload. The upload process was simple. I selected the pictures that I wanted and clicked “upload.” All of the pictures I selected were uploaded and then all imported into the website. Once I had them on the website, I was able to place the pictures in the order that I wanted them to go in. I started with the pictures when the lot was just dirt, when the framing began, drywall install, fixtures, lighting, etc.
I love how easy the website was to use and how many options there are to customize the Lil’ Photobook. I could crop pictures, rotate, resize, and adjust them to get the look I wanted. When designing the cover, I put a text box with our address and a picture of the front of our house. I was very impressed with the amount of fonts and color choices available to me in order to get the look I wanted.
Another thing that I liked about the design process is that when I thought I was finished with my book and clicked next, the website gave me two error messages saying that my text was out of the printable range and to go back and fix it. I like that because I did not know that my text was out of range, so I would messed up the text unknowingly! Thankfully, because of that notification, I was able to go and adjust what I needed in order to make the text fit appropriately on the cover.
Okay, this product is my favorite. I used the Photobook Worldwide mobile app to upload my pictures and create the most beautiful canvas print of when Greyson was born.
The Canvas Air comes in three different sizes: 8×8, 12×12, and 16×16. I got the 8×8!
Once you choose what size you want, you are able to upload your photos straight from your phone. You can choose to do as few as 1 picture to as many as 4. I chose to upload 4 pictures. Greyson is just too cute to not do 4, ha! There is a little randomizer button that will re-order your chosen pictures into different layouts and positions and you can pick your favorite OR customize your own layout! You can rotate or crop the picture to get the look what you want and then order. Again, super easy to use and I can’t believe the quality of the canvas print! The Canvas Air also comes with mounting directions, so it’s very laid out for you! It was easy to hang and looks so beautiful hanging in Greyson’s room!
Photobook America also has Metal Prints and Wood Prints where you can do the same thing! Our house is a farmhouse style and both of those finishes would look so cute in our house! I can’t wait to try out both!
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the quality of the products and how easy both the mobile app and website are to use. I love that this company ships worldwide and they have sooo many amazing products to choose from! Don’t forget to check them out here.
Don’t forget to use my exclusive code in order to get your FREE Simple Book! Use code GREYPBWW – good until 9/30/19! Also, see these products up close in my Instagram highlights here!
A big thanks to Photobook Worldwide. Products were received for free in exchange for review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own!
My husband and I recently completed our front yard renovation! When we first moved into our brand new home, we had so much to do. Our front yard was in rough shape and it required landscaping all around. We didn’t even have a walkway for about 8 months. 😳 Here’s what the front yard looked like when we moved in:
Jeff thought it would be a good idea to save a few grand and put in the walkway ourselves, given all of the other expenses we were putting into the house. We also wanted to get some plants into the ground before winter came since we moved in in August and baby Greyson was born 5 days later. Jeff dug out the ground for where our walkway would go and planted some shrubs. The ground was unbelievably hard to shovel. I’m not sure if it was because of the huge machines driving over it or what, but it was a huge pain in the butt.
Winter came and it was too cold to put in a walkway, so we figured we would just wait until spring. After realizing we had so much work to do with the front yard, we thought it would be best to have someone else do the walkway. Best decision ever! The masons did a wonderful job and completed the job in a day and a half. We love that the walkway really flows with the front yard and the garden beds.
Once the walkway went in, we were able to mulch the garden beds. Jeff bought 20 bags of mulch from Lowe’s, which we went through in about 20 minutes. We had to have 4 more yards of mulch delivered which we blew through as well. 🤣 Who knew the front yard would require so much mulch!
Thankfully, my mom and father in law were able to come over and help us with the garden beds and weeding the trees by the curb in the front yard. There was just too much work for both of us to do. We still need more mulch for some of the trees in the front and many more plants for our garden beds, but I think it looks so much better than it did when we moved in!
Yes, that’s Greyson playing in his playard. That thing is awesome! Here is our finished front yard renovation! We’re just waiting for the grass to grow in a bit where Jeff leveled the walkway to be more flush with the yard and then he will mow the lawn. So happy with all of our hard work and dedication! Hats off to Jeff who worked on the yard at night after he got home from work and ALL DAY each weekend. Such a fabulous husband. Now, we just need some more plants for our garden beds! I was thinking about doing peonies and hydrangeas, but I’m not sure what else. What do you think we should add to our front yard renovation? Let me know!

I was looking for a dining room table long before we moved into our new home. I knew exactly what I wanted. I had everything picked out. I wanted to do a farmhouse table (shocking) with tan colored chairs and a bench. I even had the table runner I would use for special occasions picked out!
When it came time to finally deciding to purchase one and I showed my husband what I wanted…. he hated it. Of course I was annoyed. So here we were back at square one. I found another table I loved and guess what… he hated it again. What’s a girl to do?! This game went on and on. He showed me a table that I didn’t like, etc. We finally decided that we needed to just build one. We thought it would be a really cool story to tell our children and have them know that the table they do their homework at, eat, play games at, was built by their Daddy! I said I would help, but let’s be real here. Me with power tools, in the garage at night ain’t gonna happen.
We scoured the internet for ideas of a table that we could build and then we stumbled upon plans before we finally found a table we both LOVED. How perfect was this!? The table was essentially laid out for us step by step with a grocery list of items to purchase from Lowe’s or Home Depot. We couldn’t be more thrilled! There are so many great DIY woodworking plans online. If you are handy, or in my lucky case, know someone who is, go for it! Here is the link that we found that initially caught our eye.
Jeff went to the store to gather all of the materials and he set out on his dining room table endeavor! He did have to buy some new tools, like a Kreg Jig, but if you plan on building more than one item, you’ll definitely want one. Unfortunately, Jeff’s phone imploded, so we lost a ton of pictures of the table being built, but luckily, I still have a few to share:
Jeff put a pre-stain on the wood, which I guess you have to do with pine. He read up a lot on how to stain the wood, too. We really liked the color of the stain in the picture, so we decided to go with the same stain. The stain is Varathane Briarsmoke stain. The stain looked SO COOL going on. You can see the grain of the wood pop and everything.
When Jeff put the polyurethane on, he said it actually changed the color of the stain to be more warm, when we were actually looking for a cooler color. He said that he still wants to sand it this summer and re-apply a different poly, but I love the table just the same. He also made the accompanying bench to go with the table you can find here. This is the finished product!

Our powder room was a blank slate when we first moved in. No mirror, no towel rack, nothing! When thinking about the style we wanted for our house, we thought a modern farmhouse style would suit us perfectly. We like things that are simple, practical, and that won’t totally break the bank. It took me a few months to find everything that I wanted to include for our farmhouse bathroom to give it the look we were going for, but in the end, I think it was worth it!
I wanted to do a mirror that had a little shine to it. I found the perfect one at Lowe’s one afternoon while I was there for the 10th time that week. (When you build a home, you don’t realize how many times you will end up at a hardware store, supply store, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc, so we made frequent trips.) We ended up getting two more of the same mirror for the master bath, but in a different color. I wanted a mix of items that were neutral in color, were somewhat functional, and obviously items that were easy to clean.
We ordered the shelves from Wayfair. You can buy these shelves in various sizes and stain colors. We ordered the shelves in a dark walnut stain, size 16″ x 5.5″.
I’m not a huge fan of the vanity lights that we have in the powder room. We needed something that would ship quickly, had a clean look to them, and were relatively inexpensive. You would be surprised how expensive it is to put lights in a whole house! We ended up ordering 4 sets on Amazon because they had matching towel racks, toilet paper holders, etc, but the other components didn’t have the mounting hardware that they were supposed to! Thankfully, after some bargaining, Amazon refunded us. The lights don’t entirely have the look I’m going for and they don’t feel very well made, but they get the job done. Ideally, I would like to replace these in the future, but our list of to-dos is too long right now to think of that!
We also purchased a towel ring and toilet paper holder made by Moen from Amazon. I really like them and they are super sturdy. We got 4 sets of these guys, too.
Here are the links for our toilet paper holder and towel ring, but they’re not as exciting! Also, the decorative soap holder is from Mudpie, but I can’t find it online anywhere! I originally bought it at The Paper Store some years ago. I love our farmhouse bathroom and I can’t wait to do the rest of the house in a similar style. Our dining room has a farmhouse table that my husband built to continue our theme throughout our downstairs. Check it out here!
